Spectacular sights
Sulphur Gates
A popular attraction and must-see spot in the region is Sulphur Gates. This spectacular viewpoint overlooks the confluence of the Smoky and Sulphur Rivers, showcasing dramatic cliff edges and amazing mountain views. Located a short drive and easy hike from Grande Cache.


Kakwa Falls
Within the Kakwa Wildland Provincial Park, the Kakwa River cascades 30 metres over Kakwa Falls, rushes through a 4 km canyon, then plunges over the second set of falls, making this the tallest waterfall in Alberta. Smaller waterfalls, including the popular Eaton Falls, Muskeg Falls, and Twin Falls are located in the Grande Cache area.

Water Adventure
Abundant lakes, rivers, and creeks wind their way through Greenview. You can find over 20 boat launches giving you access to many of the lakes within the region to enjoy boating, water sports, fishing and swimming. If you’re feeling extra adventurous, boat or canoe to the island across the Grande Cache Lake for a truly remote experience or raft the white waters on the crazy rivers in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains on a guided river tour.

Golfing
Grande Cache Golf & Country Club
Set against the slopes of the Rocky Mountains, this stunning nine-hole golf course, one of the most spectacular in the province, with breathtaking mountain views from every hole that has a driving range, practice green, Clubhouse, licensed dining lounge, banquet facility, power cart & club rentals, golfing supplies & souvenirs, BBQ Facilities & outdoor patio.

Winter Fun
Greenview’s varying terrain and snow provide a haven for snowmobiling, cross country skiing, snowshoeing and tobogganing, or try your luck at ice fishing on one of the many lakes. If you are feeling adventurous (and experienced), there are even opportunities north of Grande Cache for ice climbing. Nitehawk Year-Round Adventure Park has an impressive ski and snowboard hill, luge track and tube park for the whole family to enjoy.
Lake & Creeks
Victor Lake
This serene little lake is two kms outside of the Hamlet of Grande Cache. Scenic and abounding with local wildlife, no motorized boats are permitted on this lake making it ideal for kayaking, canoeing and fishing for Rainbow Trout. Victor Lake can be accessed by turning onto a dirt road on the right side of Highway 40 heading south 2 km out of Grande Cache.
Grande Cache Lake
Located 5 km south of Town on Highway 40. A popular destination in the summer heat! Great for enjoying water sports, mountain views, year round fishing for Brook and Rainbow Trout. The lake features a natural beach, day use picnic areas with fire pits, boat launch & dock and the Rotary Playground. You can also enjoy a picnic on the island across the lake.

Grande Cache Tourism & Interpretive Centre
Surrounded by magnificent panoramic views of the Canadian Rockies and located on Hwy 40, the Grande Cache Tourism & Interpretive Centre has plenty to offer travellers, newcomers, and residents alike. In addition to tourism information, you will find exhibits showcasing local history, including ice-age artifacts, dinosaur tracks, Indigenous heritage, fur trading, local wildlife mounts, and geological and industry information. Inside, you will also find the Bighorn Gallery Gift Shop, Esson Gale Art Gallery, a fully functioning Art Studio, and space available for meetings, events, and conferences. Outside you will discover the Birds’ Eye View Interpretive Park featuring walking trails, picnic areas, gazebos, historical buildings, locally painted art murals and a large replica of a ‘Cache.’ The Grande Cache Tourism & Interpretive Centre is happy to fulfill all your tourism information requirements, and the cordial staff encourages you to explore the local history and culture.
